it is with his blood, does he submit himself to his country's needs - unknowingly, of course, of the consequences to face.
Wilm is almost unrecognizable - like most soldiers in their attire. Whenever I see photos of the Waffen SS all in their helmets - they look all similar, stone faced, cold, their mouths agape with cries for a better life for the father land - their ambitions the same, but manufactured from the ideologies fake words and slurs.
The wounds are deep, the gashed are fatal, but he seems more beyond death than we can imagine.
Dear wilhelm, why? How has your youth, your beaming enthusiasm paid for all this? why let it...why.
Dammit goebbels.
Hah, I always think the same. I can't recognize for the life of me any soldiers in their uniforms. They look exactly the same. A very communistic idea, is it not? "We're all brothers, we're all the same. We fight for the same thing so why shouldn't we look the same?" It's all a terrible, terrible lie. I love war stories, I love the whole theme to it since it shows humans true nature but I hate what it does to us. I hate how it destroys us. The worst death or the worst crime will always be war.
Wilm doesn't realize and he never will. He will think, until his last moment that it was dulce et decorem pro patria mori. He will doubt it of course at some point, but he will be still blinded by the shining attire, the glistening badges and the stone-cold propaganda lies.
My little sister saw this and said "He looks too fat! Why is he fat? He's FAT. CHANGE IT." I told her that it's not him who's fat but his uniform is too big for him and thus he appears fat. She, of course, didn't really understand. Thank god.
Damn you, Goebbels. Seriously. Damn you.
thank you.
